I am always very weary of heading into the TikTok app, every time I do I know I’m just going to get sucked into it and it’s so easy to spend an excessively long time on the app. But tiktok isn’t just for the Gen Z and the younger generations with their fancy dance routines. Viral trends include food video’s too and over the last year, there have been some absolute corkers on there. So to save you the time and stress, here are 11 of my favourite healthy Tiktok food trends and viral sensations that I think have hit the mark.
It’s the most addictive social media app there is, but I suppose that there is a real reason for that. The content on there is really bloody good, and viral food trends are abundant with wellness content creators, and it’s not just your average avocado toast or overnight oats that seem to have been done a million times and more. Some of the tiktok users are highly questionable, with one of the most memorable tiktok food trends, the supposedly healthy coke fad that was going around. I didn’t try it myself but saw enough videos of people saying it tasted like crap, I’ll just drink normal coke if I actually want to drink some thanks.
There is a whole host of toxicity on the platform, but there is also a lot of incredibly talented people on there sharing popular dishes but with really creative content, with a better way to put a spin on your favourite foods and finding new ways to change up an already delicious recipe.
So I thought I’d write this article to save you hours of your life by not having to fully enter the app to which of the biggest tiktok food trends and food hacks are actually worth trying out.
Let me know if you try them out and which one you enjoy the most.
1. Pesto Eggs On Toast aka Pegsto
Eggs on toast is a staple meal in my household on those mornings or lunchtimes when I do have the time to prepare eggs. These have become a new go-to and are definitely worth the hype as they are so damn simple to make.
Get the bread of your choice, pop it in the toaster, fry your eggs in pesto instead of your normal cooking oil. In the recipe, she also adds avocado and ricotta cheese, and red pepper flakes, but I have also tried it with just the pesto and eggs and it’s just as delicious. It’s a recipe that you can mix up to your own taste.
2. TikTok Wraps
Again another recipe that you can really customise and change it up with a whole host of different fillings that you could choose from. The idea is that you fill each quadrant of the wrap with a different filling. Slice 1/2 way through, fold the quadrants and then toast. Genius!
3. 3 Ingredient Banana Pancakes
Now in all fairness I have been making these for years, these are certainly not new, but I was still happy to see this one doing the rounds. Banana pancakes are one of my favourite weekend breakfast meals. You can also make these by replacing the flour with oats if you are looking to go gluten free, and blitz them in the blender. They just doing get quite as fluffy as with flour. But either works well. He talks about adding chocolate chips but that is completely optional if you are wanting to keep it on the healthier side.
4. Sesame Crispy Chicken
I love this tiktok video and recipe and it’s super easy to make. A great option if you are wanting to do your own at home fakeaway. In fact the last few times I have had this, I would say it’s even better than a takeaway and will save you money and is less calories.
5. 3 Ingredient Ice Cream
I mean come on. Soooo simple and a great go to treat and lower sugar than conventional ice cream, especially if you are adding fruit to it.
6. Salmon Rice Bowl
The salmon rice bowl from food tiktok’er Emily Mariko was a huge hit. Salmon, soy sauce, green onion, what’s not to love about this simple viral trend? A great way to use up any leftovers and you could easily add a whole lot of veggies to this dish too.
7. Watermelon Pizza
I love this idea, it’s a really easy way to add a little bit of variety to a simple slice of watermelon and whatever fresh fruit you have around, it’s not your average fruit salad. Plus how pretty does it look??
There are lots of variations of the watermelon pizza going around, from sour to frozen versions. But this one with greek yoghurt and berries was my personal favourite as it had a good mix of aesthetics plus flavour. I think the best part is that really anyone could make this.
8. Corn Ribs
This Mexican dish makes for an excellent side dish in the summer time BBQ season, it’s no wonder it made it to one of the top tiktok food trends of this year, but who’s to say you couldn’t indulge in this any time of year as I have seen a lot of people doing these in the air fryer too.
9 The Jennifer Anniston Salad
Though it turned out that this actually wasn’t the salad that Jennifer Anniston ate on the set of friends for 10 years straight as I talked about in the article below. The salad that went viral was still pretty tasty and amazing, so is still going to get it’s spot in the best off list as it still became a tiktok trend.

10 Ramen Noodles
11 Baked Feta Cheese
A simple and time-friendly dish using cherry tomatoes, a block of feta, a glug of olive oil and thrown into a baking dish its simplicity means that is no wonder this became such a popular dish. So popular that the stores in Finland apparently ran out of feta cheese.
These are my favourite healthy TikTok recipes that I have found so far, and I’ll be sure to keep this post updated as soon as I see any new ones come along. I have missed some of the more popular tiktok food trend foods like sweet treats, pasta chips, cloud bread or chocolate chip cookies as I wanted to stick with some of the healthier alternatives from the past year. But if you want those types of food videos you can certainly find those lots of those viral tiktok recipes too.
Do you have any favourite viral videos or recipes that you have found via the app? Or which one of these are you looking forward to trying out the most??
